Top Dog truck takes to streets
A new gourmet hot dog mobile restaurant will begin cruising around the Virginia suburbs this week.
Top Dog, the newest member of the growing group of D.C. food trucks, offers a fancier take on the traditional hot dog with a menu featuring a bacon-wrapped dog.
Co-owner and daily chef Dave Adams started working to bring the truck to the streets in summer 2010. Along with his wife and another couple, Adams navigated through the paperwork, licenses and regulations to get Top Dog moving.
After a couple of weeks of soft opening around office buildings in Tysons Corner, Top Dog will be opening officially in the next few weeks. The owners could not get a license to operate in the District, so they plan to motor mostly around the suburban office centers, Adams said.
Hear Adams and his co-worker Patricia Auxier talk about the truck’s soft opening and the popularity of the food truck in the District.
